Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson have just days left in their Royal Lodge home before they face their inevitable eviction.
The former prince was forced to relinquish his lease on the Windsor home after being stripped of his titles, due to his association with billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein . With Andrew set to relocate to the Kings Sandringham estate in Norfolk, Fergie has been left struggling to find her own accommodation options.
At first, it was believed the former Duchess would move in with one of her daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, but it has now been reported that this will not be a permanent solution.
Beatrice lives in the Cotswolds while Eugenie splits her time between Kensington Palace and a Portuguese villa, so neither can give their mother a permanent roof over her head. After living in the Grade II-listed mansion Royal Lodge since 2008, a friend of Sarahs told the Daily Mail that she will have to "lower her expectations" about the standard of her next home.
The friend added that Fergie "would prefer to stay in the Windsor area". Ms Ferguson is said to be in "a fragile state" with an insider saying: "She's really not sure what the future holds," adding that recent events were not good for my mental health.
The Times has also reported that given the turbulent relationship between Andrew, Fergie and their daughters, living together would not be a good idea while they are all but estranged. A source told the publication: Relations are warmer between Ferguson and the couples daughters, but no offer of permanent accommodation has been extended to their mother.
"For now, Andrew and Sarah have a housing crisis. It may mean that they have to lower their expectations about the sort of lifestyle they wish to lead.
Andrew is reportedly moving into the five-bedroom home of Marsh Farm, which is currently undergoing renovations to prepare for the former princes impending arrival. In the last weeks, workmen have been seen at the site installing extra security measures, with Sky technicians also seeming to install broadband.
The disgraced royal went to tour the home last week, and was reportedly less than impressed with his new home. A source told The Sun : "It was the first time he's seen his new house, and he is resigned to the fact that this is his future. He's come to the conclusion that he has to get on with the rest of his life and accepts he has to make the best of it."
Until the renovation works are complete, it is believed he will occupy a smaller house on the Sandringham estate. The property sits approximately two miles from Sandringham's main residence, and authorities extended the estate's drone prohibition zone in December to encompass Marsh Farm.
According to The Times , wherever Andrew moves on the Sandringham estate, he will have family and friends close by. They said: He has a few loyal friends and some sources close to the royal family suspect that Charless steely approach may have been too tough.
Wherever Andrew ends up, Fergie will not be coming with him as she still works to secure a permanent housing option, as her exile from public life continues in the wake of the Epstein scandal.
